About Eli Technologies
Eli Technologies is building the AI-powered financial and data infrastructure for the U.S. energy transition.
We solve one of the biggest bottlenecks in the U.S. energy transition: the structural barriers to getting clean technology installed in actual buildings. While hardware costs have plummeted, the delivery system remains broken—stalled by legacy IT, a fragmented workforce, and slow, consultant-driven incentive programs with enormous administrative overhead.
Eli replaces this antiquated model with a unified, AI-driven operating layer. We enable utilities and governments to verify project eligibility, validate work, and release funds instantly—turning the fragmented world of "behind-the-meter" upgrades into a scalable, high-speed pipeline.
Our mission is to accelerate deployment capacity to decarbonize the built environment, stabilize the grid, and ensure U.S. economic competitiveness.
The Role
Payments are at the heart of Eli’s platform and vision.
Our technology automates incentive processing and enables instant payments to contractors who would otherwise wait weeks or months to get paid. Contractor Payments — our first financial product — has already paid out $15M+ with a near-0% loss rate, and is now backed by a secured debt facility. This product has grown from zero to ~$2M ARR in less than a year, and growth is accelerating.
But that’s just the start.
We’re ready to expand Contractor Payments into new states and programs. Eventually, this will evolve into a full payments suite — powering faster, smarter capital flows between utilities, contractors, and their customers:
instant payouts to contractors
streaming payments for pay-for-performance programs
milestone or “bridge” payments while financing finalizes
embedded disbursements to multiple parties within a project
We need a Head of Payments to take this business from strong proof of concept to scaled, profitable growth — while laying the foundation for a broader financial infrastructure layer that underpins Eli’s long-term platform vision.
This role reports to the CEO and is a full-time, senior leadership role.
What You’ll Own
End-to-end business ownership: Be the CEO of Payments within Eli. Set the growth plan, hit the numbers, and help build the systems to scale.
Growth and customer success: Drive adoption among contractors and partners. Get on calls, close deals, build relationships, and ensure every customer stays and expands.
P&L ownership: Manage revenue, margin, and portfolio performance. Operate the debt facility, oversee modeling, and handle reporting with finance and lenders.
Operations and team leadership: Manage and level up the small payments ops team (processors, support, and risk).
Product feedback and iteration: Stay close to contractors and users; partner with product and engineering to refine the platform.
Capital and lender relations: Support and scale our SPV, ensure smooth capital drawdowns, and help structure future facilities.
Strategic expansion: Identify and launch new payment products and programs.
Who You Are
You’re a business line or product GM or founder/entrepreneur who knows how to turn a proven product into a scaled business.
You love owning the full stack — from strategy to spreadsheets to sales calls.
You won’t hesitate to pick up the phone to talk to HVAC contractors in the morning, and then dive deep into financial modeling, P&L management, and talking to lenders in the afternoon.
You’re empathetic, curious, and commercially sharp — excited to spend time in the field understanding how small businesses in the energy and electrification sectors actually operate.
You’re scrappy, organized, and know how to motivate a small team.
You have strong business instincts: when to grow, when to optimize, and when to ask for help.
You may have started and run your own company, led a major product or business area at a bigger company, or have leadership experience in fintech, lending, operations, consulting/investment banking, or clean energy. We’re open to a wide range of backgrounds if you can show us you are up for the task.
Why This Role Matters
This is a rare chance to run a business inside a company that’s building the next generation of digital infrastructure for energy programs.
You’ll be responsible for the part of Eli that actually moves money — the core friction that slows every energy program in the country.
The business you lead will:
Power instant liquidity for thousands of contractors and homeowners
Unlock faster capital deployment for utilities and governments
Serve as the foundation for new financial products that tie AI, automation, and climate finance together
It’s both a P&L and a product with purpose.
What Success Looks Like
Payments volume grows 3–5x in the first year
Facility utilization, credit performance, and operating margin all improve quarter-over-quarter
Contractor satisfaction and retention exceed 95%
New payment products (e.g., milestone, Pay for Performance, bridge loans) launched within 12 months
Payments becomes a profit center and a core differentiator for Eli’s broader platform
Compensation
This is a true business ownership role. Your comp structure will reward entrepreneurial performance — including performance-based incentives tied to growth and profitability milestones. You’ll be building a business that could generate significant recurring revenue; your compensation will reflect that ownership mindset.

Eli is proud to have a “no negotiation” compensation policy. We believe it is on us to do our homework, understand your expectations as part of the interview process, and ensure we are offering a competitive salary for every position. A growing body of evidence suggests that allowing for negotiation after an offer is made exacerbates pay disparities and simply rewards good negotiators. There’s also evidence that women and people of color are less likely to negotiate. We want everybody on our team to feel well-compensated and on track to meet their financial goals, so if you get an offer from us, you can be assured it’s the best offer we can make.
